Why Star Aviation Academy

Three Reasons You Choose Star Aviation Academy

Not industry hype. These differentiators are unique to our programme — verified, dependable, reliable and the reason 95% of our students get placed.

🥇

India's First — DGCA CAR 147 (2018)

The "First Institute in India" approved by DGCA for 2-year, 2400-hour AME courses in B1.1 (Mechanical) + B2 (Avionics) under CAR 147. A regulatory first-mover advantage that no other institute holds.

👨‍✈️

15+ Ex-IAF Aviation Instructors

Faculty includes senior Aircraft Maintenance Engineers, ex-IAF Airframe / Engine / Workshop / Avionics specialists with deep service-aviation experience. Result: students consistently top all-India DGCA module exams — at 2× the national pass rate.

2 Years vs 3 Years

Every other AME institute takes 3 years. Star Aviation Academy does it in 2 — same 2400 hours, same DGCA compliance under CAR 147, zero compromise on training depth. That's 12 months of salary you start earning sooner. One year of your life back. You may get employed one year earlier than your peers.

Two DGCA Streams · Choose Your Specialty

2400 Hours. 22 Months Training + 2 Months Airline Practical.

Both streams DGCA CAR 147 compliant · ICAO + EASA aligned · Module-level depth that produces all-India DGCA toppers.

What Our Graduates Say

Real words from real engineers — now working at airlines across India and the world.

"

I recently completed my Aircraft Maintenance Engineering course at Star Aviation Academy, and it has been a transformative journey. Being situated so close to Delhi International Airport provided a real-world aviation environment that few institutes can match. The instructors are highly experienced and always willing to go the extra mile to explain complex systems. The practical labs and exposure to actual aircraft components gave me the confidence I needed as I stepped into the industry. I am grateful for the guidance from the faculty and the placement support provided.

"

I recently completed my AME course from Star Aviation Academy. The instructors and staff are exceptional. I completed all 10 modules of the B2 Avionics stream at the Academy itself, under the guidance of our instructors. The airline practical training on a live Airbus A320-271 Neo aircraft was an outstanding experience — exactly the kind of real-world exposure that prepares you for the industry.

K
Karan Pratap Singh Chauhan
B2 Avionics
"

Completing my AME course at Star Aviation Academy was one of the best decisions I made. The faculty guidance through all 10 B2 Avionics modules was thorough and focused. What stood out was the airline practical training on a live Airbus A320-271 Neo aircraft — it bridged the gap between classroom theory and real maintenance work in a way no textbook can replicate.

I am proud to say that I completed my course from Star Aviation Academy. The entire staff is exceptionally well-trained, professional, and always ready to help students. For anyone looking to build a bright and successful future in the aviation industry, I highly recommend joining this academy.

"

The biggest strength of this academy is the caliber of the instructors — most come with decades of experience from the Indian Air Force. The faculty is result-oriented and understands the pressure of DGCA modular exams. They provide rigorous coaching and mock tests essential for passing. One thing I truly appreciated was the open-door policy. Whether it was a doubt in Avionics or Mechanical, faculty members like Mr. BM Acharya, Mr. Sailesh Kumar Singh, and Mr. Rakesh Kumar Dohroo were always willing to stay back or use tutorial classes to clear our concepts.

"

I recently completed my AME course at Star Aviation Academy and could not be more satisfied. The DGCA-approved curriculum is handled by instructors who clearly have years of field experience. What sets them apart is their focus on practical training — the hands-on sessions in the labs gave me the confidence I needed for the real world. The placement cell is also very proactive; their industry tie-ups helped many of my batchmates land roles in leading airlines. If you are serious about a career in aviation maintenance, this is the place to be.

FAQ

Common Questions Before Applying

Everything you need to know about SAAT 2026 + Star Aviation Academy's DGCA-approved AME programme.

SAAT & Scholarship
SAAT stands for Star Aviation Aptitude Test. It's a 60-minute test you take right here on our campus when you come for your visit. No online registration. No fee to sit the test. You just show up, give the test, and based on how you do, our team decides what scholarship they can offer you — applied directly to your course fees. The better your performance, the better the conversation. Come visit and find out what's possible for you.
Honestly, if you've studied PCM — Physics, Chemistry, Maths — in Class 12, you're already prepared. The test covers what you've been studying. There's some basic reasoning thrown in too, but nothing that requires special coaching. Just bring your Class 12 marksheet when you come, sit for the test, and see how you do.
No. There's no fee to visit us, and there's no fee to sit the SAAT test. You come to campus, you see everything, you take the test — the whole visit is free and completely without obligation.
Eligibility
You're exactly who this programme is built for. Physics, Chemistry, and Maths are the foundation of everything we teach — aircraft systems, aerodynamics, engines, electrical systems. If PCM made sense to you in school, AME will feel like a natural next step. Come visit and we'll show you exactly how your Class 12 subjects connect to what you'll be doing here.
You can still apply, and we'd love for you to come visit. That said, AME is heavily Maths and Physics-driven — from engine calculations to electrical systems. If you've chosen PCB, it's worth having an honest conversation with our counsellor during your visit. They'll tell you straight where you'd need to catch up and whether this path is the right fit for you.
Any one of these works:

• Class 12 passed with Physics, Chemistry, and Maths
• B.Sc with relevant subjects
• 3-year engineering diploma from an AICTE-approved institute (Mechanical, Electronics, or Electrical)
• B.Tech or any Bachelor's degree from a recognised university
• Even if you're still appearing in your Class 12 PCM exams this year, you can come visit and start the process

Preferred age is below 24, but come speak to us — we assess each student individually.
Yes, and it's worth knowing upfront. You need to be in good general health — no disability, no colour blindness or night blindness, eyesight 6/6 (glasses are fine), no epilepsy, no hearing issues. You'll need a fitness certificate from an MBBS doctor at the time of admission. For the campus visit itself, just come as you are.
Absolutely, and we'd encourage it. There are no gender restrictions in DGCA licensing whatsoever. We've trained and placed female engineers across Indian airlines and MRO facilities. Aviation needs more of them.
The Programme
Because we were the first institute in India to get DGCA approval under CAR 147 for a 2-year, 2400-hour AME programme — covering both B1.1 and B2 streams. Most institutes are still running the older 3-year model. Our programme is 22 months of structured training plus 2 months of airline practical. Fully DGCA-compliant, same licence at the end — you just get there a full year faster. That's one extra year you could be earning instead of studying.
Think of it this way — B1.1 is for students drawn to engines, structure, and how aircraft physically work. B2 is for students who find electrical systems, navigation, and electronics more interesting. Both lead to the same DGCA licence. Both are equally valued by airlines. If you're a PCM student unsure which way to go, our counsellor will sit with you during your visit and help you figure out which stream fits your strengths and interests better.
It means two years of serious, structured learning — theory in the classroom, hands-on work in our labs with real aircraft components, DGCA module exams throughout, and two final months of practical training on live aircraft at our airline partners. It's not a light programme. It's designed to produce engineers who are ready to certify aircraft from Day 1 of their career.
This is where it gets real. Students go to our training partners — AIESL (Air India Engineering Services), GMR-GACAEL, IndiGo, and Air Works India — and work on live aircraft in actual maintenance environments. You're not shadowing someone. You're doing the work, on real Airbus A320s and other aircraft types. This is what separates a Star Aviation Academy graduate from someone who only ever saw components in a classroom.
The Campus Visit
You'll see things no brochure can show you. The training aircraft on campus. The practical labs. The DGCA approval certificate — original, signed, framed. The placement records going back to 2005 — not a percentage on a slide, actual batch-by-batch data. And you'll have a proper conversation with a counsellor who'll answer everything honestly, including the questions most families feel awkward asking. The visit is about 90 minutes and it changes the way most families see this decision.
Please bring them. This is a significant decision for the whole family — fees, career direction, hostel, future earning potential. Our counsellors are used to speaking with parents and they'll address every concern directly. Families that visit together make faster, more confident decisions. We find that most parents who attend leave with far more clarity than they expected.
For the visit alone — nothing is mandatory. If you want to take the SAAT test on the same day (which we'd recommend), bring your Class 12 PCM marksheet and a photo ID. If you want your eligibility confirmed on the spot, your academic documents help. But if you just want to look around first — come as you are.
We're open Monday to Saturday, 9 AM to 6 PM. Sunday visits are by appointment. We're in Sector-110, Gurugram — about 13 km from IGI Airport. Parking is available on campus. Once you fill the form, our counsellor will call you within 2 hours to confirm your slot and share directions.
Career & Placements
95% placement over the last 5 years. 70 to 80% of our students find their first role within 6 months of graduating. We have 300+ recruitment relationships — Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet, Akasa Air, Emirates, Etihad, Qatar Airways, Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, Airbus, Safran Aircraft Engines, HAL, DRDO, AIESL, and more. When you come to campus, we'll show you the actual placement wall — batch by batch, name by name. Not a number on a slide. Real data.
Here's an honest picture of where Star Aviation graduates go:

In your first year as a Trainee or Cat A engineer, you're typically looking at ₹70,000 to ₹90,000 a month — plus flight discounts and medical benefits.

Once you're a fully licensed AME (Year 1 to 3), that goes to ₹50,000 to ₹1,00,000 depending on the airline and role.

By Year 3 to 5, experienced AMEs are earning ₹65,000 to ₹1,25,000 or more.

Get type-rated after Year 5 and you're looking at ₹2,00,000 to ₹2,25,000 a month.

Go international after Year 7 and senior roles can reach ₹3,50,000 a month. These numbers are based on actual alumni placement data — your counsellor will walk you through the details during your visit.
Your DGCA licence is recognised in 193 countries. This isn't just a domestic qualification — it's a career passport.

In the Middle East — UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia — licensed AMEs earn AED 15,000 to 30,000+ per month, largely tax-free. Emirates, Etihad, Qatar Airways, and flydubai are consistent recruiters of Indian AMEs.

In Europe, Lufthansa pays approximately 5,000 Euros a month for licensed engineers. British Airways, Air France, and KLM recruit regularly too.

Canada has a significant and growing AME shortage — Air Canada and WestJet are actively hiring, with salaries of CAD 60,000 to 1,00,000+ per year.

In the USA, DGCA-to-FAA A&P conversion is possible, with salaries of USD 55,000 to 85,000+ annually.

Australia has one of the most acute AME shortages in the world right now. Qantas and Virgin Australia are actively recruiting, and DGCA-to-CASA conversion is straightforward.

Your counsellor will map out the exact conversion pathway for whichever country interests you. Come and ask.
Two intakes a year — April and August. The next one is August 2026, and SAAT 2026 closes on 3rd August. After that, the next opportunity is April 2027 — a full six months away. Seats are limited by DGCA regulation, not by us. Families who visit in the next few weeks and confirm their seats won't be waiting six months for a second chance.
Admission Process
It's straightforward and we try to keep it fast:

1. You fill the form on this page — our counsellor calls you within 2 hours to confirm your visit slot
2. You visit campus — see the facilities, meet the counsellor, ask everything
3. You take the SAAT test on campus the same day if you're ready
4. Our team reviews your score and discusses a scholarship offer with you
5. You submit your documents and we check eligibility on the spot
6. You receive your admission notification
7. You pay the first-term fee to lock in your seat

Most families go from campus visit to confirmed seat in 5 to 7 days.
• Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets (PCM)
• Matric certificate for date of birth proof
• 5 passport-size colour photographs
• Medical fitness certificate from an MBBS doctor
• Character certificate
• Aadhaar card (optional but helpful)

You don't need all of these for the visit. But if you bring them, we can run through everything in one go.
If you submit a written request within one week of admission and before classes begin, you'll receive a refund minus 10% administrative charges, processed within 30 days. After joining the course, the admission fee is non-refundable. We'd rather you come visit first, ask every question, and be completely certain before you commit — that's the whole point of the campus visit.
About Star Aviation Academy
We opened in 2005. DGCA approval came in July 2006. That's 20 years of batches, 20 years of placements, and 20 years of producing engineers you'll find today at airlines across India and the world. When you come to campus, you can see that history on the placement wall yourself.
Star Aviation Academy was founded by Mr. S.S. Gill, who has over 30 years in aviation — type-certified on 11 aircraft including the A320, A330, A340, and MIG-21, and former Head of Engineering at Air Deccan. Our faculty of 15+ includes ex-IAF aviation specialists — airframe, engine, avionics, workshop engineers who spent careers in service aviation before they started teaching. This is not a faculty that learned aviation from textbooks.
Yes. DGCA CAR 147 approved since July 2006. The original approval certificate is framed and on display at the campus — you can see it when you visit. This is the document that makes your licence valid. Not a website badge. The real thing.
We're at P-76, New Palam Vihar, Sector-110, Gurugram — 122017, Haryana. On the Dwarka Expressway, NH248BB. About 13 km from IGI Airport. Easy to reach from Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad, and most of NCR. Parking is available on campus. Once you submit the visit form, our counsellor will send you directions and help you plan your route if you're coming from outside Delhi NCR.
